JCBC ROW OXFORD TO LONDON
21st-24th September we took the 184km challenge along the Thames to raise some much needed funds for Jesus College Boat Club, Oxford
Why are we fundraising?
BECAUSE WE WANT TO KEEP WINNING
The past year has been one of success for JCBC, marked by an influx of novices and development driven by some excellent coaching. On the men’s side, we gained double blades in Torpids, the four day inter-collegiate competition in spring 2015. On the women’s side, our first eight, with a majority of novices in the boat, managed to fight off stiff competition at the top of Division 2 in the summer competition-which seemed impossible at the start of the year.
BUT our key coaches have left, one of whom coached voluntarily, and our grant income has dropped. We do not want to be forced into a financial position where we cannot employ high-standard coaches. We’ve seen the positive effects it’s had in the past year, and though we’re a relatively small boat club, we want the hard work to be worth it. No point reinforcing bad habits by rowing without any instruction!
How can you help?
Sponsor our eight and four that will be taking on the Thames in September-any amount will be accepted gratefully.
