The first day of bumps racing saw some strong performances across all of the divisions, but the day ended on a neutral note for JCBC.

On the Men’s side, the First Eight rowed over in a very boring race near the top of Division 2, with Mansfield, Lincoln, and Jesus all hammering through the course at about the same pace. The Second Eight was denied a bump thanks to the early bump of Keble’s Second Eight on Teddy Hall’s Second Eight. Unfortunately the Third Eight was given a technical bump due a massive miscommunication between race desk and our boat, and despite our multiple appeals, their technical bump still stands today. However all was not lost thanks to the Herculean efforts of the Vikings, who managed a bump just at the entrance to the gut.

The Vikings preparing their long ship as the one minute gun is about to fire. They went on to bump Keble's Fourth Eight.

The Women’s First Eight put together a magnificent piece, but were unfortunately caught by Lincoln’s very strong First Eight just at the end of Greenbanks. The women’s Second Eight managed to push off a catching LMH Second Eight near the exit of the gut, to complete a row over for the day.

Race times for Thursday have not changed, but some of the starting positions have. Here is the updated list:

W1: 5:15 pm (Women’s Div II, bung line #4, chasing Lincoln)
W2: 1:45 pm (Women’s Div V, bung line #2, chasing GTC II)
