Head of the River Race has become a regular event for Jesus M1 to compete in and this year was no exception. Sadly losing a rower in the run up to illness, the infamous James Yapp stepped in to add some experience to the crew. The race started well, hitting a strong rhythm to take us through the first half. Coming towards Hammersmith, the chasing crew gained and drew level under the bridge as we struggled with some rougher waters. Here however, the crew stepped up the rate and continued to wind to Putney. Over the line we’d opened up a length on the chasers! Final results showed us move up to 173rd on the river, beaten by only 2 Oxford colleges! A great send off for our cox and last years captain, Jon Hubbert, who has seen 2 fantastic years at JCBC in which he has earned blades twice.
