Two Jesus members competed in a composite crew at Fours Head of the River 2015. Lucy Harris and Chloe Huttner entered an IM2 women’s four along the 6.8km tideway course. Despite some horrendous conditions-heavy rain and 40mph wind gusts, the race went ahead and the girls, after only 3 outings in that exact crew, marshalled to the start. It wasn’t at all daunting to have shared changing rooms at Quintin Boathouse with the Oxford Openweight women, who were nearly double Lucy’s height! The actual race went surprisingly well, a solid, controlled piece which gave us a time of 23.09. Only 1 second behind Tethys 2! It was a pretty amazing experience to go and compete, plus we got to cheer on our very own Jesubite Tom Commins in one of the Oxford Fours as they raced past. After a peaceful paddle back with some sunshine and photo stops, the only negative was arriving to find our wellies missing…
