Welcome to JCBC

JCBC is the boat club for members of Jesus College Oxford. We are a very active and well supported club, with excellent equipment and facilities on the Isis in Oxford.

With around 100 active members, we are one of the largest college boat clubs and often have more boats on the river than any other college.

The club has produced many great results in recent times and our members are enthusiastic and committed in everything that we do. Most importantly, we love every minute of it.

Torpids Results – Double Blades!

After a fantastic week of racing, JCBC have finished Torpids 2012 with an impressive overall bumps score of +8! This places us 7th out of 36 competing colleges, a result to be proud of.

A great performance from M1 saw them rise two places in division 2, and W1 fought valiantly to also remain in division 2, with some superb racing.

M2 were hampered by last minute injury and had a sub for the duration of Torpids, however they managed to end their bumps drought on Wednesday with a hit on Hertford II. Unfortunately the rest of the week was less successful, finishing -3.

W2 stole the show with a truly excellent performance every day of Torpids, and all term. They trained hard and outclassed every crew around them, finishing +6. Not only did they win well deserved BLADES, but also have reached the fixed divisions for W2 crews of the future. Many congratulations to the crew, and to their coach, Ben.

The finalists’ crew, W3, also put in a huge effort, gaining +5 and BLADES, a great achievement for all involved.

Well done to everyone taking part this year, it has been on of the most successful Torpids in recent times for JCBC. I hope you all enjoyed the week as much as I did.

Torpids Day 3

  • M3 -1 Somerville took revenge to leave the DreamTeam with a level score
  • W1 -1 A strong row saw W1 unable to avoid a bump from L.M.H.
